We’re delighted to share some exciting news: a CEN Workshop on “Guidelines for Disaster Risk Preparedness Solutions” is being launched, building directly on the innovative results of the PARATUS and SYNERGIES projects.
This cluster-led initiative tackles a common challenge: ensuring the long-term sustainability of EU-funded project results. Too often, innovative tools and solutions risk becoming hard to access, forgotten, or duplicated once projects end. The CEN Workshop will address this by offering structured guidance on hosting, governance, and intellectual property arrangements, helping to preserve and maximise impact over time.
- Kick-off Meeting: 24 September 2025, 10:00–12:30 CEST.
What is a CWA?
A CEN Workshop Agreement (CWA) is a publicly available document developed through a collaborative process under the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN). Unlike formal standards, it is:
- Faster to develop – ideal for emerging fields,
- Voluntary – but widely respected across Europe,
- Flexible – adaptable to real-world needs.
In essence, a CWA transforms innovative project outcomes into structured, reusable resources that support long-term impact and better coordination.
What will this CWA deliver?
The new CWA, initiated by SYNERGIES and PARATUS, will provide good practice guidelines for documenting, sharing, and sustaining disaster preparedness solutions. Its goals include:
- Supporting sustainability: ensuring preparedness tools remain usable beyond project lifetimes.
- Promoting consistency: improving how tools are described and shared.
- Strengthening impact: making solutions easier to discover, compare, and integrate into practice.
- Reducing duplication: building on what already exists and making better use of public funding.
Rather than developing new tools, the CWA will ensure that what we already build has lasting impact.
Why now?
As the disaster risk management landscape grows more complex, with new policies, programmes, and projects emerging across Europe, there has never been a better time to connect, align, and share. Through this initiative, projects gain a stronger collective voice and visibility, ensuring their contributions are recognised and sustained.
Why get involved?
By participating, you can:
- Contribute your expertise and insights to shape the guidelines,
- Showcase your project’s results and increase their visibility,
- Make your tools easier to adopt and sustain,
- Align with European-level coordination efforts,
- Demonstrate leadership in collaboration and sustainability.
